Job Purpose
Supporting and working closely with the General Manager in making sure all parts of the venue operate effectively, all employees are doing their required duties, and that we keep our customers and employees happy.
Hours – 45h/week
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
- Highlight any gaps in resource and work with the General manager on recruiting for these gaps
- Assist the General Manager in planning and implementing strategies to increase footfall and revenue streams
- Assess the needs of the business and communicate with the General manager for when they are producing rotas in line with these needs on a rolling basis, support with producing rotas when required
- Overseeing the running of shifts, making sure the best quality of service available to the customer
- Assist the General Manager in tracking progress of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual objectives
- Evaluate employee performance and identify gaps and training needs
- Supervise and motivate staff to perform to their best
- Events – Work with the Business Development Manager to hold events and work with the community, fulfilling all event requirements in line with set process
- Ensure all events held in the venues are co-ordinated and everybody is aware
- Coach and support supervisors and bar teams
- Support implementation of training programs and techniques to help develop the team
- Communicate with various areas of the business
- With the General Manager, responsible for controlling incoming and outgoing stock with a focus on meeting company KPI targets
- Managing staffing levels effectively, controlling costs with a balance of delivering fantastic service and profitability.
- Assist in monitoring retail operating costs, budgets and resources
- Involvement in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring kitchen managers and team are following company FS & H&S protocols. Conducting regular kitchen audits to drive standards and quality
- Handle complaints from customers
- Analyse customer behaviour to ensure the venue is functional and presentable, adjust product positioning where needed
- Make sure all employees adhere to company’s policies and guidelines
- Research emerging products and use information to discuss with the General Manager, Director of Bar Operations and Operation Manager
- Act as a Brew York ambassador and set an example for our staff
- Create reports, analyse and interpret retail data like revenues, expenses and competition
- Monitor posting on social media about the venue to generate business and a following
- Keep up to date with licensing legislation and ensure employees are following (including challenge 25 policy and Ask for Angela)
- Proactive stance on health and safety in the workplace, ensuring all is in line with health and safety standards and accident reporting
- Highlight issues with equipment or beer to Retail Operations Manager/Director
- Ensure cellars and kitchens are maintained with a high standard of hygiene
- Ensure any maintenance issues are reported immediately
- Ensure kitchens follow food hygiene standards
- Ensure waste remains at a minimum for all stock, and highlight any issues with Retail Operations Manager/Director
Requirements and skills
- Proven experience in management in hospitality or similar position
- Level 3 Food Hygiene
- Experience with recruiting and performance evaluation processes
- Customer service experience
- Good maths skills with the ability to create and analyse reports, spreadsheets and sales statistics
- Leadership and organisational abilities
- Communication skills
- Problem-solving attitude
- Ability to work weekdays/evenings weekends and public holidays when needed
- Personal License preferable
Job Type: Full-time: 45 hours per week
Pay: £30,000.00 per year
