Brew York has announced a range of activities and events to mark International Women’s Day – including a special brewing day as part of a global collaboration brew project, now in its 10th year.
Here’s what’s in store:
7th MARCH 2023 – BEER SOCIAL FOR WOMEN, 6PM
Women On Tap CIC and Brew York are joining forces to host an informal, social get together for women and non-binary people who enjoy a beer or two in the Tasting Room at Brew York’s flagship venue on Walmgate, York.
Whether you already love beer or are beer-curious, pop along and meet like-minded women, enjoy a few beers, find out more about Women On Tap, and meet some of the women of Brew York.
Numbers are limited. Tickets are £5 and include a drink on arrival at the venue.
See here for more info.
8th MARCH 2023 – IWCBD COLLABORATION BREW DAY – UNITE AT 10 (ALL DAY)
This year marks 10 years of International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day – a worldwide annual event that takes place on 8th March every year in conjunction with International Women’s Day.
It is an initiative designed to open to all women working in or interested in beer to learn, network, and make friends.
As part of the UNITE AT 10 global collaboration, Brew York will be brewing a DIPA, and they are inviting women and non-binary people from their community to join them.
The team will host a day of brewing, beer education, and some tasting, with a spot of lunch and a mini brewery tour, plus a social drink or two afterwards.
The beer will be released in April and will form part of the Brew York seventh birthday beer six pack.
This event will be located within the main brewery area so due to space limitations and safety measures only a very small number of tickets are available for this event – sorry!
For tickets and more info see here.
10th MARCH 2023 – YOUTUBE LIVE HOSTED BY BREW YORK WITH WOMEN ON TAP + GUESTS, 7PM
The usual monthly Brew York YouTube Live will be a little bit different in March as they mark International Women’s Day.
Brew York’s Head of Marketing and founder of Women On Tap, Rachel Auty, will be joined by guests from the Brew York team to lead the chat, talk about the experiences of those who are underrepresented in the beer industry, and sip along with beers 1 and 4 of the evening.
Lee and Wayne will join in live from Tampa, US for beers 3 and 4.
There are limited tickets for an in-person audience to them in the Tasting Room at Brew York, Walmgate, York. You can also join the fun and chat online – we’ll go live at 7pm and here’s the link.
This event is open to all but those who identify as women or as non-binary are particularly encouraged to come along.
For the live audience tickets are £10 and the price includes tasters of the four beers that will be featured on the evening.

AND THAT’S NOT ALL!
In addition to the three main events planned, a series of mini-interviews with the women and non-binary people of Brew York will also be published during the week of International Women’s Day on the main website.
As the world prepares to mark IWD on 8th March, the global beer community is also busy bringing together their communities to celebrate the impact women have on the beer industry, which continues to be largely male dominated.
It’s a time of year Head of Marketing at Brew York and founder of Women On Tap CIC, Rachel Auty, always looks forward to.
“I set up Women On Tap back in 2017 on a mission to find more women who love beer and put them in the spotlight. Six years on, I’m still on that mission but this year is the first time I’ve also been working at a brewery too. I’m grateful for the support from the team at Brew York and I can’t wait to shout about the brilliant people here who do such important work within this business and are underrepresented in beer yet are an asset to the wider industry.”
In the week prior to International Women’s Day Brew York released its Brave Noise beer as part of a global collaborative brew project advocating for a safe and discrimination-free beer industry. A donation from the proceeds will be made to The Egalitarian and their Safe Place Project. Brew York brewed a collaboration beer with The Egalitarian and Head of Steam earlier this year – The Egalitarian Has Landed – to mark the completion of Safe Place training with 20 Head of Steam management teams.
In addition, Brew York has recently secured some funded training for women and non-binary team members. Led by Leeds Beckett University, the #WECAN (Women Empowered through Coaching and Networking) project aims to enhance the resilience and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by building the leadership skills, capabilities and opportunities of women.
Cheers to more diversity in beer, and happy International Women’s Day from Brew York!
